Q. How do I get Card Access to the Labs?
A.
You can obtain card access to the Engineering and Computer Science open use labs by presenting your FAU OWL card to SE340 or EG275. Card Access to other labs is on a per course basis. Other students wanting access to these labs must have the permission of the Faculty member in charge of that lab.

Q. How do I log on to a Computer in the College of Engineering and Computer Science?
A.
To begin using the College of Engineering and Computer Science computers you will need your FAUNET ID. If you do not know your FAUNET ID/password please visit the FAU IRM support page (http://accounts.fau.edu).

Q. What do I do if I have forgotten or lost my login ID or password? A. If you cannot remember your FAUNET ID you can look it up at http://accounts.fau.edu. If you have forgotten or lost your password you will need to call IRM's help desk at 561-297-3999 (7-3999 on campus) to obtain this information.

Q. I'm a new College of Engineering and Computer Science Faculty or Staff member. How do I obtain an email address?
A.
You can obtain an e-mail address by having a sponsoring staff or faculty member submit an email request form to IRM via the following form: http://www.ecs.fau.edu/support/helpdesk/eforms/emailacct.htm. Please fill the form out thoroughly and be patient as this process can take several days.

Q. What is the Quota limit for engineering students?
A.
In addition to the 20 MB M: drive provided by FAU, the College of Engineering and Computer Science provides additional drive space mapped as the Z: drive. Drive space is determined by department.

Q. Where is my Z: Drive?
A.
The Z: drive provided by the College of Engineering and Computer Science is automatically mapped for you when you login to the College of Engineering and Computer Science computing labs. However if you are at a different lab or the Z: drive has failed to map you can manually map the Z: drive yourself.

Microsoft Windows

  1. Go to Windows Explorer [winkey+E]
  2. click on tools
  3. select map network drive
  4. Select Z: from the Drive: drop down menu
  5. Type \\ENGAD.ENG.FAU.EDU\YOURFAUNETID (where YOURFAUNETID is your FAU login name) as the folder.
MAC X OS
  1. On the Desktop, click on the "Go" menu
  2. select the "Connect to Server..." option.
  3. In the "Connect to Server" window type the below in the "Address" field:
    smb://ENGAD.ENG.FAU.EDU/YOURFAUNETID (where YOURFAUNETID is your FAU login name)
  4. Click the "Connect" button.
  5. On the "File System Authentication" screen enter FAU for the "Workgroup/Domain"
  6. Enter your FAU ID in the "Username" field
  7. Enter your password in the "Password" field
  8. Click "OK"
The drive icon should then appear on the Desktop and in the Finder window.
